It’s the 2nd of November with record breaking temperatures and not a cloud in sight, it could be easy to forget how wet and muddy the wood yard can get during winter.. but we haven’t! Which is why we have begun constructing 4 bunkers with a concrete base. This not only allows us to avoid mud, but also allows us to free up the 2x 30m3 skips for wood chip production, currently both wood chip and logs are processed directly into the skips and kiln dried straight away.

With 4 bunkers for firewood production, we can keep a skip full with wood chip ready for drying and delivering at short notice.

Another benefit is that during the summer months, we can allow the logs to air dry for a few days before the kiln drying process thus reducing time required in the kiln.
