Wood chip as a source of energy for heating can be virtually carbon natural through correct forestry management, when a tree grows it captures CO2 and when burnt the CO2 is released.  It is perfectly viable for trees to be farmed for a near 100% renewable and sustainable supply of fuel for heating buildings both commercial and domestic. By choosing fast growing softwood trees and installing highly efficient boilers the amount of wood being consumed can be matched by tree plantations to reach carbon natural status.

All wood used by Woodfuel-Gwynedd is regrown and protected by a 100% sustainability policy. This means for every tree used to produce wood chip a new tree is planted.
